Technology is the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes. It is all over the world in many shapes and forms. Technology is also one of or maybe even most important thing in this world today. Many jobs couldn't be done with out it. Also we would not be as advanced if we didn't have technology in our lives to help us through our daily struggles. In this essay I explain what I have learned about digital text. Also an article on how technology has helped students in the classroom do way better in school. I even interviewed a senior citizen on how life was before we had all the technology that we have now.

The building of technology once again changed our way of life. I can not be up to date with life If I am not linked to the internet. The internet has changed the world dramatically. Back in the day I used pens and pencils to write essays notes and all of that. But now with computers I can type up anything, which could make writing much faster and now more efficient. Computers have spell check and dictionaries so that I have the ability to correct all my work before handing it in. Reading as also revolutionized by going from books and letters to pages on a website, and even a computerized voice to read it to me. These changes also effect schools and work environments. This forces today's society to be rethinking the way we live our life.

The video digital text taught me about hyper text. It showed me just how much it could connect me to almost anything and everywhere I need. The video also taught me how to use sources from a website for example if I ever want to copy the way a website was made I can use the view source feature. Digital text can also separate form and content. Digital text also explains that text is un-linear when written on paper. Hyperlink can potentially take me anywhere. I also learned that title defines the content not the form. Just like other technology digital text as upgraded to not just text but videos as well.

Reading the article has explained to me the significance of school designs on students. Not totally understanding why, but research is shown that it helps students grades increase. With the thought that movable chairs, tables and walls help students do better in school all schools should start doing this. The article also said giving students more freedom to take and share ideas and notes also helped students comprehend the work much more. In today's society the network is taken over more, and should be incorporated into learning environments to help teaching be more efficient. Using the internet students and teachers can connect even when not in school to help with homework, or during school breaks, and even when a student is sick or stuck at home so they don't fall back in class lessons.

I interviewed a couple older people about the technology of today, and not to my surprise not many knew how to use it or even what it was. The ages mainly ran from high fifties and up. When asking a senior citizen about how the internet has changed their life most looked in confusion asking "what is an internet". Leading to me explaining what the internet is but still was not successful in allowing them to understand the concept of it. Cell phones are a little more under standing to them, since phones have been out a lot longer. But the new touch phones are way to advanced for those older people. With studying linear text I realized the evolution of technology. I interviewed older people and realized that they had hard lives to live compared to today's generation just because of all the technology that we have. Things go much smoother with what we have now and will just get easier in do time. I no longer take what we have now for granted because I don't think I would be able to survive without it.
